KALULE LAWRENCE PHILLIPS KALULE LAWRENCE PHILLIPS

During the first years of his life, KALULE LAWRENCE PHILLIPS lived in the village of Buddu. Hardship struck Lawrence when his father died. His father’s death forced his mother to travel alot to find work. When he was six years old, Lawrence’s mother died leaving him no other choice but to live with his frail grandmother.

Life grew increasingly difficult while living with his grandmother. Lawrence was the sole source of income for her and, at times, he was up twenty hours a day working and going to school. If that weren’t hard enough, Lawrence walked several miles a day barefoot to attend class.

Happily, sponsorship through the Initiative turned Lawrence's life around and we are pleased to report that he has completed vocational classes.

Lawrence is following the example of Kibirige Ronald, composing music regularly and leading an ensemble outside of Kampala. Lawrence says, "When I received sponsorship, my whole life changed. I became a different man".

The Initiative is so happy that because of Lawrence's education and experience at the Peace Africa Center, he is now enriching the lives of other children in Uganda. Currently, he is an administrator of an orphanage on the outskirts of Kampala. In addition, Lawrence had become a sponsor of one of the children in the orphanage. Once a recipiant of sponsorship, he has become a sponsor himself.
